we love purple!

Catherine came all the way from Ohio to create this beautiful floral panel - her first experience with stained glass.  I love the saturation of deep purple - in two textures - against the white petals and airy green leaves.  simple but effective, and excellent workmanship, she is a natural.  catherine send me this photo once she got back home.  I always enjoy seeing the panel in its intended setting.  thank you, Catherine.

Christmas in August!

here's a little something to cool you off.  My friend Freda Higgins - always thinking of some new and incredibly difficult creative project - decided to make some Christmas decorations.  these are outside ornamentals, plenty heavy so they won't blow over, and completely weather-proof.

the snowman is 45" tall and is for sale for $500.  the smaller tree is 28" tall and is $150.  the taller trees are 36" and are $200 each. Freda is the primary artist, I just helped cut and glue some of the glass onto the papercrete forms.  we used lots of iridescent glass, glass nuggets, and jewels for sparkle.  Make us an offer.  these can become your permanent Christmas display - totally unique - what an eye-catching display for your entrance area at the holidays.

long-time friends celebrated Elizabeth's birthday by spending a weekend with me, each creating her own unique panel.  Sarah, Casey and Amy were doing stained glass for the first time; Elizabeth is an experienced glass artist, and that's just one medium in her repertoire.

thank you all for being so much fun, and for offering your quotable quotes to the magazine writer who came for an interview just at our most crucial part of the process.  you were all very gracious and I thank you.  when Tom's article publishes, I will send copies to all of you.

it's still too hot for me, but not as hot as during your stay.  I am finishing up the mermaid in air conditioned comfort.  I'll visit the ivory tower when temps come down below 80 degrees!
recently, alison visited me again for a "mom's getaway".  baby Jeremy has kept her busy this past year and she was ready to relax.  so how relaxing was this?  well, we all have our own idea of relaxation.
and we did have a great time, designing and creating this art nouveau panel.

thanks alison for choosing Zekiah Glass for your getaway.  and before any viewers get carried away, keep in mind that we spent 3 days, not 2, on this, and Alison is definitely NOT a novice; she has done several beautiful panels in the past.  the pinks and greens were a perfect color theme for this flowing flower-like design.

photo.JPG here is photo of a window done by one of my most prolific graduates - Bill McDaniel.  Bill has done more windows in his house than I have done in mine!  and you know that's a lot.  good work, Bill!  looking forward to working with you on your next project.
